A minor girl was killed while six other children were injured as a police personnel opened fire at a school in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Swat district, on Tuesday.
Five-year-old Ayesha lost her life as Mohammad Alam, the personnel deployed at Sangota Public School, located in the limits of Mangalore police station, 'lost control' over his gun.
Other girls who received injuries due to the firing, namely Ruma Hussain, Naheed, Arisha, Horeen Wajiha, Aishal, and Hareem, were shifted to Saidu Sharif Hospital for treatment.
District Police Officer, Swat, Shafiullah Gandapur said the accused is under custody and the case is being investigated. He added that the personnel is a murderer and will be brought to justice.
Police sources says that the personnel shot accidentally, while on the other hand, there are also reports of him being mentally unstable.
Regional Police Officer (RPO) Malakand Nasir Mehmood Satti visited the hospital, accompanied by DPO Gandapur and Deputy Commissioner Irfanullah Wazir, and issued instructions for the best care for the children.

The social and political personalities of the district also visited the hospital, and inquired after the health of those injured.
Meanwhile, the local school association strongly condemned the incident. They questioned deployment of a 'mentally unstable' police personnel at the school.
"We cannot afford such accidents anymore; DPO should ensure a transparent probe into the incident and make the report public," they demanded the authorities.
Earlier, Express Tribune reported that a driver belonging to a school was killed and two students injured when their vehicle came under attack by unidentified attackers in Guli Bagh village of the same district.
Officials say that the assailants were riding a motorcycle and opened fire at the van. They fled from the scene soon after the incident.
